Aquentium’s (MOS-1) Designed to Increase Grocery Store Profit Margins

Perris, CA - (WORLD STOCK WIRE) - December 11, 2009 -- Aquentium, Inc, (OTCBB: AQNM) is pleased to announce that their (MOS-1) non chemical sanitation equipment is designed to increase the bottom line profits for grocery stores or supermarkets of any size in the United States and throughout the world. The Aquentium non-chemical sanitation system extends the shelf life on fresh fruits and vegetables by eliminating or reducing bacteria and viruses on the food product.

Typically, grocery stores lose thousands of dollars per month in spoiled fresh fruits and vegetables. With the Aquentium ozone system, the company can help eliminate this costly problem for both chain grocery stores and independent stores. The expected ROI of the MOS-1 for any store can be within 1 month based on the volume of produce being sold in a store.

The Aquentium MOS-1 is strong enough to combat e-coli, salmonella, and other bacteria or viruses. The MOS-1 is also designed to eliminate chemicals and hot water for external store sanitation.

“Our MOS-1 system utilizes ozone which replaces the need for chemicals and is the natural way to sanitize surfaces and fresh food products. Ozone gas (O3) can be generated by passing high voltage electricity through oxygenated air, causing oxygen to break apart and recombine in the tri-atomic form,” stated Aquentium President Mark Taggatz.

The MOS-1 can also be used to solve another problem for stores - the need to sanitize store shopping carts.

A study by the University of Arizona found that shopping carts are the third-most contaminated item consumers regularly come into contact with. The CDC has reported that food borne illnesses found on shopping carts cause approximately 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths in the United States each year.

Additional studies show that millions of Americans are becoming more concerned about their exposure to bacteria and viruses in public areas, such as fast food restaurants, restrooms, and convenience stores.

“We expect that our cost effective mobile sanitizing system will be of great benefit to those in the grocery industry that are seeking a green technology solution that eliminates or reduces bacteria and viruses on fresh fruits and vegetables and for those looking to lower utility costs and not have to pay for ongoing chemical costs,” added Taggatz.

Ozone has a variety of uses in the grocery / supermarket industry. Water containing low concentrations of ozone gas can be sprayed onto equipment, walls or floors to both remove and eliminate bacteria or other organic matter that may be present. Ozone can also be injected or dissolved in water to provide rinsing or washing of food products such as fruits or vegetables.

As an oxidizer, it is 51 times more powerful than chlorine, the oxidizer most commonly used by most grocery stores, and 3,000 times faster at killing bacteria and other microbes. Ozone is effective as a disinfectant at relatively low concentrations and does not leave toxic by-products similar to those related to chlorination.

Ozone is FDA and USDA approved. Compared to chlorine, ozone offers several advantages for grocery stores or anyone who wants to sanitize materials or surfaces. Chlorine has traditionally been the sanitizer of choice in the food industry, but experts share a growing concern about the dangerous byproducts such as trihalomethanes or dioxins produced when chlorine reacts with organic matter in the water. These substances are known carcinogens and are regulated in drinking water by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

While chlorinated wash systems require transport and storage of potentially hazardous toxic chemicals, ozone is unique in that it is generated onsite from oxygen and can be produced on demand with no storage required. When the generator is turned off, there are no dangerous substances on the premises. While the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of ozone is affected by the amount of organic matter or chemicals in the water, its ORP is not as sensitive to changes in pH as that of chlorine.
