eFoodSafety.com, Inc. to Commence Efficacy Studies on Citroxin(TM) Utilizing Trans-Dermal Delivery System for Eradication of MRSA ''Super Bug''
Scottsdale, AZ - (WORLD STOCK WIRE) - December 5, 2007 -- eFoodSafety.com, Inc. (OTCBB:EFSF) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Knock-Out Technologies, Ltd. will begin a dual purpose study to determine the effectiveness of Citroxin(TM), using a trans-dermal vehicle, against Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). This test is the next progressive step following successful testing of Citroxin(TM) that demonstrated positive results for eradicating MRSA in a laboratory setting. This step is coupled with the recent completion of a unique trans-dermal cream containing Citroxin(TM) as the active ingredient.
The Kirby-Bauer method will be used to determine trans-dermal Citroxin(TM)'s effectiveness against MRSA. Kirby-Bauer is a zone inhibition test where an active component is added into a Petri dish fully inoculated with a pathogen, in this case MRSA.
Effectiveness is determined by how far from the Citroxin(TM) application site MRSA is inhibited. Two test versions will be done. The first test version involves placing the trans-dermal Citroxin(TM) directly into the Petri dish inoculated with MRSA. The second test version involves saturating a small disk with trans-dermal Citroxin(TM) and placing it in the middle of the dish. This is a gold standard test used to determine the effectiveness of many antibiotics.
The second phase of this study involves the application of a small controlled amount of trans-dermal Citroxin(TM) directly onto the skin. An oxygen level will be determined prior to the application, thirty minutes after the application, and finally, two hours after application.
The readings will show how effective the trans-dermal component is at transporting the active ingredients of Citroxin(TM) into systemic circulation. This will be evident by an increase in oxygen saturation. The testing will use Pulse Oximetry, a common and well-accepted method for determining blood oxygen levels.
eFoodSafety.com, Inc. expects these efficacy tests to be completed within the next thirty days. There is a high degree of confidence that the results will be as positive as the previous Citroxin(TM)/MRSA tests. Successful results are expected to pave the way to undertaking a human case study involving Citroxin(TM) and MRSA.
