Soleus Ecosystem BringsBest-of-Breed ISV Mobile Applications to Converged Consumer Handsets
Vancouver, BC - (WORLD STOCK WIRE) - February 11, 2008 -- Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. (TSX: ICS), a global wireless software solutions provider, today announced that Picsel Technologies, VisualOn Inc. and Westtek LLC have signed alliance agreements and adapted their applications to further strengthen the Intrinsyc Soleus software platform. These applications add to a robust catalog already including industry leaders Avanquest Software, Esmertec AG, Implicit Software Solutions, Nuance Communications, Inc., Shape Services, Web Information Systems, Inc., and Winwap Technologies.
By leveraging the Soleus software platform, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) of applications for Windows Embedded® CE, Windows Mobile, and other high-level operating systems can reach vast new consumer markets with minimal incremental development efforts. Using familiar Microsoft developer tools, Win32 APIs, and existing source code, developers can easily extend existing applications to a broader consumer-focused mobile handset market.
By integrating our high-performance Jbed platform into Soleus, handset manufacturers benefit from a powerful Java platform, on which various content and services can be created and deployed across multiple devices, said Thomas Hornung, CEO, Esmertec. We are excited by the possibilities that the Soleus platforms modular architecture and strong development tools provide for improving time to market for mobile devices. Esmertec will be displaying a Jbed solution on the Soleus software platform in booth 1B07(1_0) during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, February 11-14, 2008.
As the Soleus SDK incorporates the industry standard Visual Studio 2005 for user interface (UI) development, our Windows Mobile platform developers felt right at home, said Adrian Stevens, Director, Implicit Software Solutions. With a common foundation of the Windows Embedded CE platform, we were able to port our mobile games to the Soleus software platform with minimal modification to our original source code. In short, porting from other Windows Embedded CE platforms to Soleus was refreshingly quick and straight forward.
By partnering with Intrinsyc, we can extend Picsel Browser into new consumer and personal-use handset markets, said Bill Vanke, Executive Vice President and COO, North America, Picsel. Thanks to the robust Soleus development toolkit and open architecture, we were able to adapt Picsel Browser to this new platform with minimal effort and resources. Picsel will be exhibiting in booth 8A50(8) and 4.3HS12(4_3) at MWC. It is critical that OEMs and ODMs have the best and most widely-used applications to build their mobile devices, said Sean Torsney, Vice President Sales & Marketing, VisualOn. With the integration of VisualOn codecs onto the Soleus software platform, Intrinsyc and VisualOn are making it much simpler for handset manufacturers to innovate and cut time-to-market, which ultimately allows them to reduce production costs.
Todays mobile consumers require more from their devices than just great call quality, said Tim Wells, President, Westtek. By teaming with Intrinsyc, Westtek will help to ensure that the Soleus software platform offers customers a complete, robust and user-friendly mobile workspace. The Soleus SDK allowed us to apply our extensive knowledge of Windows Embedded CE to the process making the port a slam dunk!
Our developers have felt right at home with the Soleus SDK from the start, said Mikael Krogius, CEO, Winwap Technologies. Our current offerings for Soleus include the ported Browser and MMS Client applications as well as the Unified Inbox which was created specifically for Soleus. Our applications are integrated seamlessly into the Soleus software platform, allowing for the best possible user experience. Even though the applications and their backbone technologies are complicated and require a lot from the underlying platform, they could quickly be customized and integrated into Soleus
New market-ready Soleus-based devices such as the MSI 5608 and prototype versions of the new Soleus capabilities will be demonstrated in the Intrinsyc meeting room 4.7HS01 at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, February 11-14, 2008.
