Produce Safety and Security International, Inc. Provides Cost Effective Food Safe Produce
Lewisville, TX - (WORLD STOCK WIRE) - March 26, 2008 -- Produce Safety and Security International, Inc. (OTC: PRSF) provides a cost effective Food Safety Process Certification program for the imported melon industry. The Produce Safety and Security International pro-active Food Safety approach provides a cost effective program for the elimination/removal of food borne illness pathogens causing sickness and death. This cost effective process, provides the grower, packer, shipper, exporter, drayage, importer, receiver, buyer and customer a safe food product.
Central American Produce, Inc. of Pompano Beach, FL, announced a voluntary recall of cantaloupes grown, packed and shipped by an independent third-party grower, Agropecuaria Montelibano of San Lorenzo Valle, Honduras. The product was distributed nationwide and in Canada. Based on current information, the cantaloupe grown, packed and shipped from Agropecuaria Montelibano appears to be associated with a Salmonella Litchfield outbreak in the United States and Canada. Visit the FDA Web site to view the voluntary recall notice.
There are other firms that are involved in this recall using other labels of the same grower, including Mikes Melons. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has advised U.S. grocers, foodservice operators and produce processors to remove from their stock any cantaloupes grown, packed and shipped from this company. The FDA is also advising consumers who have recently bought cantaloupes to check with the place of purchase to determine if the fruit came from this specific grower and packer. If so, consumers should throw away the cantaloupes.
Who required the sales agent to voluntary recall the product? Why was the FDA not making the recommendation for recall? Once again, if Congress and governmental agencies would take the pro-active approach requiring processing at the port of entry these issues would not occur. Again, the issue is why the regulatory agencies fail to protect the population who pay the bills in this country. The cost effective food safe program would have saved the importers and exporters over a million dollars and provided assurance to consumer and retailers that they are providing a food safe product. The common sense approach for Produce Safety and Security cost effective ozone air technology provides a process that will protect the consumer and provide the trillion dollar produce industry a credible food product for the consumer. It amazes me how the consumer will sit back and let the retailers purchase food product with no assurance of safe food. It appears the consumer will tolerate any food item for consumption without a thought to health issue that can result in sickness and death. The pro-active approach to food safe products for the consumer provides a credible food product. When can we expect any action from congress and the governmental agencies, stated Clarence W. Karney, CEO of Produce Safety and Security International, Inc.
