PRODUCE SAFETY AND SECURITY INTERNATIONAL PROVIDES FOOD SAFETY ACCOUNTABILITY SOLUTION FOR PRODUCE INDUSTRY

Lewisville, TX - (WORLD STOCK WIRE) - April 11, 2008 -- Produce Safety and Security International, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PRSF) is pleased to announce that the company provides a cost effective solution to keep pace with changes required by food safety requirements and traceability for the fresh fruit and vegetable industry.

The major change for the produce industry is the depth and detail of food safety monitoring and record-keeping. It is the responsibility of the industry leaders to ensure future success in the fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers involved in the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain must address the issues of food safety, changing market trends, energy cost, working with governmental agencies, implements a cost effective food safety program with traceability, accountability and reliability.

"We get so caught up in audits, but remember an audit, in and of it self, does not make your product safe,” commented Produce Safety & Security International CEO, Clarence W. Karney. “What truly makes your food safe is the process, is the risk assessment.”

Chief executive officer of the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement, gave a rosy report on a recent audit of the group, saying 99.3% of member companies were found to be in compliance. None of the violations since the agreement’s April 2007 start involved instances of tainted produce reaching consumers.

“The issues discussed and comments by the industry groups are very confusing as to what are the real issues are facing the produce industry. Record keeping and documentation for the produce has been the same for the last 48 years I have been in the industry as a Grower, USDA Inspector, Armed Forces Procurement, Marketer, Importer, Exporter, Grower Relations and Food Safety. Mr. Whitaker from New Star has the most sensible, realistic, logical approach to a solution for this complex issue. An audit does not make the product free from bacteria causing food-borne illness. The process used to protect the product from the bacteria is the first line of defense for protecting product, sale, buyer, consumer, grower, receiver and logistics. The grower, packer, shipper is responsible for the first process removal of the pathogens. Next comes the transportation to protect from any cross contamination. Distribution center or broker is responsible of the product for delivery to the retail store and the retailer is the last line of defense before the consumer purchases. The real facts are if there is a breakdown of the safety chain the consumer will be the victim of food-borne illness. Produce Safety & Security International provides a cost effective process for food safe product and traceability for all steps of the food chain to the consumer,” added Karney.
